Day working at Comart making decisions on a range of management issues as positions harden concerning the miners’ strike and Diana plans to see her doctor tomorrow

Up on time with Diana improved and down to a breakfast of toast and coffee as usual. Early to the office and then to work together with June, dictating large sections of the Business Plan and also the Product Introduction Meeting Minutes. Then to discuss some key personnel reviews with Ian Nickson, then the Monday morning mail. In it further bad news from Plume and whilst reading it, Ed Sparrow of Ashursts rang and obtained a full briefing and update on the Plume situation.

Then more dictation with June – this time to dictate the text for regional job advertisements and then a final review meeting with Ian. Just time to eat my sandwiches and prepare ourselves before a full afternoon of interviews for the Comart Dealer/OEM Sales Management position. A good candidate in Ian Smith who seems young but very stable. Late at the office completing the day’s paperwork and preparing papers for processing during tomorrow’s train journeys. Home to news of the miner’s strike and even harder positions, then to bed before long against tomorrow’s early start. Daniel has David Tomblin to stay at the moment and very content with it. Diana sees the Doctor tomorrow about her continuing cough and bad chest – I hope it is good news.
