Daniel’s Sports Day at Kimbolton School with young mums in St Trinians outfits to keep me interested!

A slow start reading the paper in bed until up and washed a little late and off to Kimbolton in the Rover with Diana and Debbie. It is Daniel’s sports day at Kimbolton School and, whilst he has not been entered for any event, we turn out to see his friends and the school grounds. There is a cool breeze but the sun shines and free cups of drink keep us comfortable although eventually Di has to go off on a long expedition to find Debbie a toilet. Many boys and girls jumping, running, hopping and cheering until eventually at 12.00noon the relay races end the event and a whole range of cups and shields are awarded to the star performers.

Then away by car to The Happy Eater for lunch and back via the factory in Eaton Socon so that I can collect this week’s journals and the latest letter from Ashursts. Then off to Debbie’s school – Little Paxton – for the school fete and round all of the stalls buying little second hand books and things. The games included knocking the teacher out of bed, smashing crockery, delving in messy bowls for prizes, finding the whole egg shells in sawdust, lucky dips, raffles and all else. The highlight for me were the young mums dressed as St Trinian’s schoolgirls with stockings and suspenders and, for Daniel, the computer classroom. In fact because of his present deprivation, he had dropped home to get his diskette and returned to put up much more interesting games. Home to ice creams and then a smoked salmon and strawberry tea. After, relax in front of the television and waste time which I am doing more recently and regret.
