Walking around Little Paxton today looking at the problems that has been raised with me.

More canvassing this morning in Little Paxton on a cold day with wintry showers and then to start canvassing in Southoe after which I walked around Little Paxton looking at the problems that has been raised with me. The Kuwaiti airline hijackers have tortured and then shot a Kuwaiti Army officer

Slept well enough after my recent efforts, but awoke first to find Diana having a lay in. Showered and ready for my cereal breakfast. I am always on time these days and Daniel is the late one! To my office, where I sorted out today’s canvass work and analysed that from yesterday. Fed the doves and ducks before Michael Pope came and we went out canvassing. He dealt with the outstanding postal vote forms and I canvassed around Sweeting Avenue and Booth Way, getting as many as possible of the residents who were formerly out. It was spitting with rain this morning and still very cold, so that it was actually snowing at one point. Home for lunch, where I took Diana and the children to the Little Chef for our meal. Back to it after lunch, this time to start our canvass of Southoe. We started at the A1 end of Lees Lane and slowly worked towards the centre. One good contact was the Parish Council Chairman, who supports my efforts, welcomed my visit, and has agreed to take a flag board in his garden!

We attracted a few more supporters, but found it pretty hard going. I broke off at one point and delivered a few leaflets to Meagre, chatting to Mr Wells, a farm worker there, in the process. Home for tea, then this evening I took a walk around Little Paxton, monitoring the problems that the locals have been complaining about. A long walk and I keep thinking that the local youngsters desperately need something to do in the evening. Home at dusk to feed the ducks, then the late evening gathering press cuttings from the local papers on our activities, then writing up today’s journal. The tragic news today is of the hijackers shooting one of the hostages and then releasing another who is said to be ill. The dead man, a Kuwaiti army officer, was said to have been tortured. A 12 year old girl has been charged with the murder of Carol Baldwin from Northampton, who was stabbed to death in a park two weeks ago.
