Producing Campaigning Press Releases with Percy Meyer today

I spent this morning working on my Council business until, after lunch, I turned to campaigning, printing out some press releases for Percy to deliver and then sorting out the delivery rounds for my FOCUS newsletters. Inflation has risen above 6% today, three Zimbabwe men are sentenced to death for a bomb attack on the ANC and on the other side of the border in South Africa, three anti-apartheid leaders may face death also

I slept well enough but was awake early and ended the night with ‘cat-naps’. Up, shaved and showered but made myself late for breakfast and ate alone whilst reading the paper. The conservatory fitters have all but finished the job today and sealed it up and fitted all of the glass and doors with just a few cosmetics left for the morning. They used quantities of lead to seal it to the house etc. I worked in my office this morning on Council business. I telephoned through a couple of items for the Southern Area Committee Meeting agenda and then spoke to the Planning Director, David Potter, about the Ombudsman complaint and the Riversfield planning application. I edited my report of the Council Meeting as well. After lunch, Percy came round and we printed out and collated our press releases together and then he took them away for posting and hand delivery.

I heard from Frost & Co today that the builders are due to return on Monday and are keen to finish off the rest of the ground work on the conservatory. I just hope so, as the month of November is flying by. Tonight, I sorted out the latest FOCUS newsletters into my seven delivery rounds in Paxton and one each the Southoe and Diddington. Then, I sorted out a batch of envelopes (addressed to our known supporters) into round order and added these to be delivered as well. This took me until very late. The envelopes contain an appeal for people to join the Social and Liberal Democrats. Diana is not very happy about us canvassing for members in this way but it is vital for the politics that I believe in. The members are badly needed for central party finance and to provide local activists to help in future campaigns. Main news today, is of inflation rising above 6% which is only what I expected. I feel we are stuck in the 5 to 10% range as pay rises will chase price increases in a spiral. The man who has been sought for questioning in connection with the missing schoolgirl is now had a warrant issued for his arrest. African division as three Zimbabwe men have been sentenced to death for intent to kill members of the ANC with a car bomb attack. On the other side of the fence, in South Africa, three anti-apartheid leaders are convicted of treason and may face death themselves. The weather turned cold this evening and a Frost is expected.
