Daniel and Gary enjoyed a boat trip toda

After a rather uncomfortable night in our accommodation we each took a bath before Daniel and Gary joined us for breakfast after staying on the Little Lady. This morning, the boys took a boat trip and I drove the girls to Somerleyton Hall before we returned for a walk around Wroxham. Britain and Germany are at loggerheads over nuclear weapons policy and the Chinese protests in Peking are petering out

A rather uncomfortable night as the weather turned cool and Di kept pinching the informal duvet. I prefer the blankets and sheets of a traditional bed every time. Di woke up early (with a bit of encouragement) and I sat in bed and read my Koi carp encyclopaedia for a while. There was no shower and so we took turns to use a bath full of water (smallest first). Then a breakfast of cereal after which Daniel and Gary joined us from their boat in which they had slept overnight. This morning, the boys set off on a dual boat trip and I took us to Somerleyton to first go to Fritton Lake and then Somerleyton Hall.

Fritton was a bit boring for me and so I sat and read my Koi Encyclopaedia but I did enjoy watching Debbie and Della ride the ponies. Debbie was allowed to ride off on one of hers and she cantered in the end. I enjoyed Somerleyton Hall more, particularly the hall and gardens. The weather was quite warm by now, but not too hot and it was very relaxing to sit and look. We got home in time for tea and Di was very angry with me at having switched the refrigerator off by accident. Once the girls were bathed, Di and I took a walk around Wroxham, but we became separated and fell out again. I had phoned home and checked for messages but there were none. The news is of the rifts in the NATO alliance over nuclear weapons policy. Britain and Germany are at loggerheads and each is asking the United States to side with them over medium range nuclear ‘modernisation’ and how to respond to Gorbachev’s disarmament proposals. The protest movement of students and workers in Peking is petering out and the hard-line Chinese politicians are set to purge the party of revisionists. More warm and fine weather is forecast for tomorrow.
