I struggled to wake this morning after retiring day yesterday and on a cool and drizzly day. As Di set off to Cambridge to collect the girls, I worked at home before collecting Debbie from horse riding and paying her riding bills.

I slept very well on a night that was cooler and quite drizzly and a day that continued dull and showery. This afternoon, Debbie rang up from horse riding and we all went over to collect her and tried to see Fiona. After trying the riding school, the old cottage in Buckden we found at home in Manor Farmhouse, Offord, after all. I stayed a while and sorted out my account with her and arrangements for lessons and livery for the coming winter, but it took some time. My fees were only due today after all and there was no reason for her to be fussing. Daniel drove us there and home and then I had to look over Debbie’s bike and serviced it for the start of her cycling proficiency lesson at school tomorrow. More sorting out of my ‘bits-and-pieces’ after tea and then an evening of phone calls and organisation ahead of what promises to be quite a busy week.

These cannot be viewed as hollow threats as Labour are holding a significant lead in the opinion polls.
