Freda first has this idea of buying a P.O./General Stores in this area which turned out to be Redgrave Post Office and Stores

The floodwater was receding today, despite the latest fall of heavy rain. After breakfast in bed, I worked all day on my financial affairs as I rested my healing foot and Diana did a few chores for me. I was concentrating on building society deposits which were yielding around 9% which is higher than the rate of inflation without risk. All the children were back at school today after Daniel's and Della's illnesses. Debbie did well in her cross-country run. Freda now has this idea of buying a P.O./General Stores in this area to be able to look after Mum and I have offered help.

Another reasonable night's sleep but I did have a headache that extended through most of the day. The floodwater was receding today, despite the latest fall of heavy rain. Breakfast in bed and then fed the fish on what little remained of my fish food. Diana went shopping to Bedford today and I gave her quite a few chores to do to add to her own. I worked all day on my financial affairs, updating my Income and Investment summaries to reflect the transactions since November which was quite a job. I telephoned around the building societies and then keyed in the latest interest rates and returns on my investments.

I am still keeping most of my money in building society deposits where the interest rates still give me a return after tax of around 9% which is higher than the rate of inflation. I see no reason to risk my money on shares, but I may buy some more indexed-linked or other gilts when the prices seem right. I made my own lunch of smoked-salmon salad and then went and ate it in the lounge and watched the T.V. news before carrying on. All the children were back at school today after Daniel's and Della's illnesses. Debbie did well in her cross-country run today and is becoming quite an athlete. The barometer has gone up high between the storms and the weather was sunny and bright for most of the day. I therefore got Pete to clean the outside of the windows so that we could see. Not too many telephone calls to disturb me today and I am looking for a similar day tomorrow to get my press cuttings organised. Freda has phoned a few times and now has this idea of buying a P.O./General Stores back up in this area to be able to look after Mum and I have offered my help as I think that this will be a good solution.
