Once in a hotel, we were tired and dishevelled after our reception and just had tea in the Coffee Shop before turning in.

The long drive from San Simeon to Anaheim at the 50mph limit, made difficult by the unexpected rain,  stopping for breakfast and lunch and eventually arriving at The Parkside Inn to find our rooms double-booked. After having made a fuss, we were relocated to The Inn-at-the-Park. We just had tea in the Coffee Shop before turning in.

We slept well enough at the Sands Motel after an early night. I was going to take the family down to the sea and to see and hear the Bull-Frogs but opted for the rest instead. We all bathed/washed etc and then packed to set off early. The hotel cost just $100 between us for the night ($16 each) which we thought was very good value after the expense of San Francisco. The drive from San Simeon to Anaheim was a long one, aggravated again by the 50mph speed limit and the antics of the bored girls. We made stops for breakfast and lunch on the way which broke up the journey so that we eventually arrived at 3.30pm.

The problem was, on arrival, that our hotel (The Parkside Inn) had double-booked our accommodation so that they first gave us non-adjacent (let alone non-connecting) single-bedded rooms and put two rollaway beds in one and one in the other. We agonised over this - particularly as Daniel's rollaway had a bar at one end and was only 5ft long - and then I went to speak to the manager about it. He relocated us to the Inn-at-the-Park at their expense which was a better hotel with Disneyland in view and had better facilities as well as the right room format and so we eventually settled in there. The problem was we did not feel secure as we had to keep checking with the Parkside Hotel about the availability of suitable accommodation each day. Once in a hotel, we were tired and dishevelled after our reception and just had tea in the Coffee Shop before turning in. It had been raining today and this made the journey even more difficult whilst easing the Californian drought. We were glad the weather had stayed fine for the mountain drive!
