"Back to Normal" after my return home, getting Della back to school and meeting with Michael Pope and Derek Giles as we reviewed the campaign further. With the Eaton’s plagued with several personal and business problems, we agreed that Percy and I would help the Derek Giles team to get their campaign going. This evening, chairing a joint Village Hall/Parish committee which is making great progress our new village hall extension.

News today of national local government election campaigns winding up as Labour and Conservative spokesmen present their latest proposals for the Poll Tax replacement in the form of a Dutch Auction, each offering £140 off for the forthcoming year!as a Greek cargo vessel found its radio mast on its bow two hours later!

I was awake early this morning as Diana stayed asleep and so I got up and read the last couple of days' financial papers whilst drinking morning tea. Della was next up and I reassured and encouraged her to prepare her for her first day back at school after a couple of weeks. Di was up late, obviously jet-lagged, and had doubts about Della but it worked out all right and she went off to school. After showering, shaving and dressing, I came down to breakfast and Daniel also joined us, leaving Debbie and Angela laying in. This morning, I phoned and organised a briefing meeting between Michael Pope and Derek Giles and we reviewed the campaign further. Priory Park is doing very well despite lack of canvassing numbers, but several personal and business problems are limiting the progress of our Eaton Socon Ward.

We agreed that Percy and I would help the Derek Giles team to get the campaign in full swing. This afternoon, I worked on with the stack of reading on my desk and then went to see Derek this evening after chairing a joint Hall/Parish committee which is making great progress on a new village hall extension.
