We we took Della to the Kimbolton Carol Service

After a very cold night which left a thick rhyme of frost on the ground we took Della to the Kimbolton Carol Service which was conducted by Mr Bearcroft who was rather dull for the occasion but he did make a very fitting tribute to Hugh Hunter.

Then on to The Happy Eater afterwards where Debbie attended Della at the Leggo Table and they both behaved well after which Di took Debbie off to horse-riding and I stayed at home to play computer games with Della before working later on my FOCUS.

It was a very cold night which left a thick rhyme of frost on the ground and encouraged the doves to be mobbing the feeding table for me to go out. I had eaten too may walnuts last night and so only had some melon for breakfast to make up for it before I went in to see Della. She was happy enough today and got dressed up later as we were to take her to the Kimbolton Carol Service with Debbie being one of the first three years' pupils at main school. Before we left, I tended the doves and fish and found out that my repairs to the filter valve had proved effective.

Derek has also popped round and collected the Eaton Socon data for FOCUS editing. The service was conducted by Mr Bearcroft who was rather dull for the occasion but he did make a very fitting tribute to Hugh Hunter and announced that the collection would be for the "Famine in the City" initiative at the particular request of his Hugh's son. The many hymns were interspersed with readings of the Christmas Story and melodic spells from the choir, hand-bell ringers and flautists and the singing was good enough but there was a cloud of sorrow that could and should have been dispelled by a more confident cleric able to handle grief. We waited until the congregation had left before wheeling Della out of the church and back to the car; stopping occasionally to receive people's best wishes for her.

Then off to the Happy Eater for lunch for which Della had promised her best behaviour. In fact, Debbie also behaved well and attended Della at the Leggo Table so that they were both happy. Di took Debbie off to horse-riding this afternoon and I stayed at home to watch a Rugby League game on TV where Salford put up a good display to lead the big team, Leeds, until being overwhelmed in the second half. Some time with Della after tea, playing some computer games and losing sufficiently to keep her amused and then to my office to update my journal, drafting a letter to Kimbolton School and then to get on with my FOCUS.
