A cane furniture company wanted to use our conservatory for a photographic venue next week

A day supervising the building work and catching up with my journal and many private affairs whilst hosting a cane furniture’s photograph visit in our conservatory. This evening to a meeting of the Parish Council Amenities Committee who supported my plans for extending the Village Hall. The Gulf news is of first Saddam Hussein broadcasting defiance to his domestic audience about being ready for "The mother of battles.

Up at a reasonable time again but further troubled with aches and pains. I got out quite early to do my chores, feeling guilty that I had failed to feed the doves yesterday with all of my rushing about. The plumber came today to finish off and the builder was also busy at his work again. He seems to be struggling to complete the job today but at least I had let him know in writing what he was letting himself in for. By mid-afternoon, I had paid him, and he was gone which just left the electrician and the carpet-fitter to follow. It was milder today and we actually had a rain shower early on. Diana went to do her Waitrose shopping in the morning as I worked in my office, catching up on this last week's journal.

I was visited by a young lady from Stax today who came to look at my conservatory. They distribute cane furniture and want to use our conservatory for a photographic venue next week and she was suitably impressed. Calls from the Hunts Post, wanting our comments on the HDC budget plans which I obliged with. I re-compiled my action list and then set about some urgent correspondence. Letters to North Norfolk DC and my Horning Councillor about the tree clearance at Ropes Hill Dyke, confirmation of my Auto-Pilot order to the marine electronics company. A letter and application form to a Paxton man who has thankfully expressed an interest in the gardening job and the order for further blinds for the conservatory. I was glad to get these items out of the way, but it took all afternoon.

This evening, I attended a meeting of the Parish Council Amenities Committee and was pleased to find that they were supporting my initiative to extend the village hall and liked the design that we had come up with. There was a chance that I was going to leave early and go on to a LibDem meeting in St Ives but there was not time in the end, and I came back home instead. The Gulf news is of first Saddam Hussein broadcasting defiance to his domestic audience about being ready for "The mother of battles" and then, Tariq Aziz telling the Soviet Union that they would be prepared to accept an eight-point peace initiative that would allow them to withdraw from Kuwait. It seems that the negotiations for peace have begun and the USA will continue with the bombardment but hold back from the final ground assault.
