A break in our cruise to call in to our Hayling View moorings for Daniel to drop off Angela

A break in our cruise to call in to our Hayling View moorings for Daniel to drop off Angela and the rest of us to complete our preparations for a long cruise and collect things we would need and catch up with some laundry. Today was warm and sunny for much of it, but then it clouded over, though staying fine

Today was both the last day of Angela's stay with us and a also a chance to drop in at home to collect anything we needed for the rest of our boating holiday. We had another good night at The Anchor, Tempsford, and even slept in a while until breakfast. The only disturbance was some all-night anglers camped next to us but they were not too much trouble until another boat forced its way in to moor there and displace them. It was our old "friends", the crew of Seahorse, that we had fallen out with in the past and their behaviour was quite unnecessary.

I took down the side screens, rolled up the rear and we then ate our breakfast under the new canopy on the flying bridge. Some time looking around the car-boot sale that was taking place on the riverside lawns and then we set off for Eaton Socon lock and St Neots. We moored at the Town Quay and walked to the market square to buy some take-away food for lunch and were then on our way and back at The Hayling View in no time. We moored up opposite the summer house and quickly connected the shore-power whilst we went into the house to do our chores. I collected the charts that I had ordered for the Humber approaches and then settled down to work on the boat whilst the kids watched videos and Diana caught up with her laundry.

I fitted the double-action manual bilge pump in position, created an access hatch in the rear cabin floor, secured a loose throttle control, moved the bridge compass and echo-sounder, repaired the inflatable hoist wires and a few other things which needed doing. All this took until dusk and then I stayed up and wrote today's diary whilst Daniel was away taking Angela back to Ware. Today was warm and sunny for much of it, but then it clouded over, though staying fine.
