Sally and Michael helped me produce the Priory FOCUS

On a cloudier and cooler day, the girls went happily off to school and Sally and Michael helped me produce the Priory FOCUS after which we attended an HDC Planning Committee where I left the Chairman with the impression that I would hope that they would resist the late application for road widening and out-of-town retail units in Paxton

It was cloudier and cooler day today after the day-time sun of the weekend. I was late down after washing my hair and showering and then fed the fish after taking the girls to the school bus stop. They have so many bags on a Monday that they can barely walk with them, but I was pleased to see that Della went off to school without any difficulty which was the best that she had behaved yet on a Monday. This done, I had a call from Sally who was coming round to finish off the stories for the Priory FOCUS and she arrived later to try to help. The trouble was that Sally and Michael had not really taken the trouble to write up stories that were particular enough to Priory and this left me without a front-page lead for their edition.

We struggled on for a while and then she had to leave for another Town Council meeting but that still left many things up in the air. I then took the time to update this last days' journal and resumed the Priory FOCUS later. The load of black fen soil arrived this morning and Bill received it and started to spread it around the games lawn. It was rather harsh and lumpy but would fulfil part of what we wanted. This afternoon, we continued working on the FOCUS and both Michael and Sally were on hand to help me complete the job with Percy joining me later as well. After tea, we had the HDC Planning Committee meeting and this took all evening and until quite late at night before we were finished.

There were a number of controversial development applications in St Neots with the issue of noise and nuisance to residential neighbourhoods being the main concern. We tried valiantly to oppose them in defence of the residents, but the Tories had the number of members so as to be able to carry all before them. The last item concerned Little Paxton and I left the Chairman with the impression that I would hope that they would resist the late application for road widening and out-of-town retail units. Home late and another night of insufficient sleep
