Della’s physiotherapy appointment yesterday went well, and she is now encouraged to ditch her crutches and move naturally to eliminate her limp and will soon resume using the school bus. A day of office work and company administration for Glisson Printers Ltd., prior to a meeting later after I had also attended a Hunts DC ratepayers meeting at Pathfinder House.

The latest business surveys are all doom and gloom and I hear many local stories of companies going out of business, but the stock exchange still rises crazily.

It was good to be able to "lay-in" until 7.00am and then get ready and have breakfast with Della and Debbie. Della had her physiotherapy appointment at the hospital yesterday evening and had been advised to give up her crutches and even to resume skipping, sports and other games which is good progress. Her limp is reducing, and the advice is that it will disappear but we shall reserve judgement and believe it when we see it. The morning papers for the first time in a few days. The latest business surveys are all doom and gloom and I hear many local stories of companies going out of business but even yet the share prices go up on the stock exchange and I cannot believe their contrary optimism.

The gardener seems to have been making minimal daily visits and I suppose that he sees little to do during this season, but I would rather he come and work on the path if only I had time to advise him so. I updated yesterday's journal and my time sheet of late and then was briefed about local Liberal Democrat affairs on the telephone by Percy before coffee. I decided to return my PC Wayplan cable to the suppliers and packed it up in a "jiffy bag" and then settled down to write a letter to the Kimbolton School Bursar, Terry Hayward, on the subject of the bus arrangements for Little Paxton. Della is just about ready to return to using the school bus but, before we will let her do so, we want to see changes in the stopping arrangements to make her journey to and from school both safe and convenient.

The rest of the day was then dominated by my preparations for this evening's meetings with particular work needed to get the resolutions faxed to Glisson Road which is part of my job of being company secretary for the Liberal Democrat printing company, Glisson Printers Limited. This involved a lot of typing but, thank goodness for my word processor! After tea I went first to Pathfinder House for a meeting between the representatives of the business community and the Non-Domestic Rate-payers. I was there as the only member of the opposition and did what I could to put the non-establishment view. The businessmen were particularly critical about the level of car parking provision in the town centres and of the charging policy of HDC that treated the service as a revenue earner to subsidise council expenditure.

A strange thing happened whilst we were in the meeting in that the telephone box and stamp machine in the foyer were ripped off the wall and stolen and the thieves gone without any of us hearing anything though only a couple of rooms away! Then a fast drive over to Glisson Road where the rest of the investors had been meeting for an hour and a half already to agree the administrative arrangements for the new company. They had been glad of my preparations and fax but also for my arrival and, once there, I noted their amendments to the document and then supervised the issue of the share certificates before inviting those left for a drink in the nearest pub to celebrate the event. Home by 10.30pm but lingered around until over an hour later before retiring to bed.
