I noted how bad Freda's ulcerated legs were getting

Home to Paxton via Redgrave later after first calling in to Jewsons to order another load of paving slabs, making 200 in all and checking the specially-milled timber they had prepared for me. Also unloading the last 60 paving slabs which I then had to lay.

I then found Mum at Freda’s in Redgrave and saw the improvements to her accommodation which were very good, but I noted how bad Freda's ulcerated legs were getting. Home at teatime and the girls at least pleased to see me.

I had to play tennis with Debbie afterwards and appreciated Di’s physical companionship. I had also called by Steven Bloom's house to have a chat and found him willing to help.

I first woke at 6.00am this morning and then slept in again until 7.00am before getting up. I was stiff this morning but not as bad as I thought and put this down to my wisdom in having a nice warm bath last night. My Heronshaw early morning routine and then out to Jewsons in Wroxham to exchange the incorrect nails and order another load of paving slabs, making 200 in all. I also found my timber order bound together with straps on a pallet in the yard and this gave me the chance to have another close look at it and then measure and count the sections to ensure that they were correct.

I was later to return and check that it had been collected for taking to the treatment plant and was relieved to see that it had. I was weary from yesterdays' work and rested for coffee when I got back to the bungalow, but this was cut short by the arrival of the delivery truck with the last 60 paving slabs which I then had to unload and lay. By the time I stopped work for lunch I had laid most of them by cutting and fitting pieces around the foundation piles and then took a sequence of photographs showing how the work was proceeding. Lunch of the food scraps left and then the journey home.

I called Mum and then Freda en-route and ascertained that Mum was in Redgrave and so I stopped by for a visit on the way home and saw the improvements to her accommodation which were very good. A satisfactory visit but I noted how bad Freda's ulcerated legs were getting even worse if Alf and Chris seemed to be in good shape. Home at teatime and the girls at least pleased to see me. I had to play tennis with Debbie afterwards and then drove off to Sawtry to drop off my Range Rover for repair and also to call by Steven Bloom's house to have a chat with him.

It seems that his wife was going through a number of exploratory tests with Breast Cancer the diagnosis. He still sees his way clear to come and help with the Heronshaw building work on Monday which is a relief but, even so, I do not think that I should rely on him too much. Diana picked me up from Sawtry and then I went to bed with her tonight, having been away for a few days and appreciating her physical companionship.
