Joseph at the London Palladium
Joseph at the London Palladium

A pleasant start to the day with just Della at school and Debbie at Amy’s. Some shopping and building society transactions at St Neots before collecting Della from school and driving to The Marlborough Hotel in London and enjoying seeing "Joseph" at the London Palladium

It was a good idea to drive back last night as I could then have a little lay in this morning. Just Della had to spend the morning at school and Debbie had the morning off, going to Amy's for a play session cooking "brownies". Diana and I went into St Neots so that she could do some shopping and I could get my hair cut and then attend to some building society transactions. This done, we returned to pack up and then drive off to collect Della from school before we all set off for London, stopping at a Little Chef for lunch. We called The Marlborough Hotel on the car phone to warn them of our early arrival and then got there in early afternoon, checking into our interconnecting hotel rooms and leaving the porters to take the car to a nearly garage for the weekend.

The hotel is part of the "Edwardian" group, short of modern aids such as air-conditioning but quite quaint and old-fashioned. Diana and I left the girls in their room watching children’s' TV whilst we set out for a nearby "High and Mighty" shop to buy me some jumpers and a pair or corduroy trousers. In the evening, we all walked the distance to The London Palladium theatre where, by prior arrangement, we had been allocated four of the best seats for the evening performance of "Joseph's technicolour dream coat" which we all thoroughly enjoyed. There is always something about a live performance and this lively, entertaining spectacle raced along with good songs and a musical narrative that saw the time fly by. We were home quite late, and I enjoyed a drink of hot chocolate before we retired to bed.
