Di returns home to a flooded areas after we had a productive day working out the kitchen tiling plan and fitting the wall units and hob hood extractor. Lunch at "The Old Tea Shoppe" in Horning and enjoyed their home-made carrot and parsnip soup before Di left for home.

We had settled down together in my sleeping bag for the night but Diana found my bed a bit uncomfortable and ended up on the bed chair in the lounge. However, we both slept well and then somewhat overslept. I made the morning drinks and breakfast and then went out to start work on the new boat-shed kitchen as Diana was due to work with me. She worked out the tiling plan and estimated the quantities for the kitchen and bathroom whilst I used her occasional help as I modified one of the wall units and fitted the hob extractor to its electricity supply and outside ventilation duct.

This was quite a tricky operation and belies the claim that anyone can easily fit a kitchen as most would have found that operation all but impossible and beyond their normal skills and tools. Diana had telephoned home this morning and found out that the girls could not get into school due to flooding of the Great Ouse and its tributary, the River Kym. This after Daniel tried three road routes to get around the problem before giving up. They had to spend the day at home with just Daniel to look after them. Later on, I spoke to Daniel and got him to check on the rising flood-water to make sure that the dinghies and shed contents were safe before he went to bed.
After Diana left for home, I thought for a while and then got down to some staining of the open boat-house timbers, finishing half of the outer bay before the light failed. Some sandwiches for tea and then I sorted out the trimming timbers on the barge and copied the existing door lining and to make two others so that I now have all three door linings ready for fitting in the morning. In to bathe my aching limbs and for a few other body reliefs before my bedtime drinks and journal, retiring just after 11.00pm.
