Family day recovering with my cold and playing with Debbie during which Daniel opens his first bank account and the ducks lay a record 10 eggs! Five major unions backs the TUC president’s call for a half day strike amongst worldwide disasters
A slight lay in and, after breakfast, to sit in the dining room and read The Times and Economist. After a while I am persuaded that I should get washed and dressed so that we could all go out together – this being Daniel’s half term holiday. First I go down with Daniel to let out the ducks and we find a record 10 eggs which means the older ducks must be starting to lay again. Daniel and I scale the ladder that the builders have left alongside the new chimney stack and take photographs of the surroundings. Off together by car to town where I get Daniel to open his own Barclays Bank Account. He is very pleased with the smart folder and set that they give him.
Just in time to complete our St Neots business and drive down to Jordan’s at Holme Mill Biggleswade for two sacks of laying pellets for the ducks. Cost £9.22. After to the Biggleswade Market where I bought some mixed nuts, new metal duck bowl (the last had been washed away in the recent rains) and some cream cakes from the bakers. Off then to the Happy Eater restaurant where they are getting to know us very well for our Saturday outing. Home via the exhaust centres in St Neots (who are all closed this afternoon) and then to watch the television all afternoon and evening as well as reading my journals and playing with Deborah. A fine tea of prawns and cakes but a very full abdominal feeling as I sometimes get which Diana thinks is indigestion. Still suffering also from my cold which is not helped by exposure again on this bitterly cold day. News today that the five major unions are backing Len Murray’s call for a half day strike on Tuesday afternoon next. Also of various disasters throughout the world.
