A sunny then increasingly windy day setting off for a Bank Holiday shopping trip to Latham's and then a day trip to Winterton beach where Sam got infested with ticks and bites
Not a very good night and then I was up much earlier than the others to wash, shave and take Sam for a walk. It was sunny but became even more windy as the day wore on. Certainly not a day for going out to sea in a boat! Breakfast rather late and then we all got ready and set off in the Range Rover for Potter Heigham. Lathams car park was full and so we went opposite and spent 50p on a public car park space. With the wind very strong by now, we only needed the back windows very slightly open to offset the sun and keep the car from getting too hot. Morning coffee in the Lathams refreshment place and then a look round the store. I wanted rather longer to look at the fishing tackle but will have to go back another time.

Walking Sam on a bright and sunny morning and fine night each side of a Wroxham Barns lunch and Cromer cinema evening visit.
The night went quite well as we settled down into Harnser and I was the first up on a bright and sunny morning. Washed, shaved and dressed and then out to feed Sam and take him out for a walk. He was quite good considering that he had not been back to Ropes Hill Dyke for at least a month. He had not messed his run and, what is more, he still waited long enough to get to the remote ditches in the dyke so that I did not have to clear up after him at all. Back to Harnser for breakfast with the others and then we had a relaxing start to the day before going out. I treated Mum and Dad's old deck chairs with woodworm fluid, and we sat on them and had morning coffee before driving out to Wroxham to do some shopping.

A sunny and warm day turning wet later as we continued to debate which car to have next. We loaded up the girls and drove from Paxton to Horning via Cambridge Land Rovers.
The England football team just manage to salvage a draw from a poor performance against Poland
I had a poor night. The problem is that I am very undecided about what type of car to get next. Di's misgivings about the Discovery did not help overcome my own and so we went to have a second look on the way to Norfolk. It was a finer and warmer day than of late and I took Sam for a late walk after seeing Debbie off at the bus stop for her speech day morning. Della had her friend Katie Morris (from Hail Weston) to stay the night and so she was quite tired and fretful, but her little friend was quite good company. Some telephone calls to action the sale of the Rolls Royce which ended up with me arranging for Lancasters of Northampton to collect the car next Tuesday getting access via gardener Bill. By the end of the morning I had done all of the chores and got the Range Rover fully loaded up.

Debating the option for replacing my aging Range Rover and viewing the latest LSE and the lower cost Discovery as another option on the eve of my departure to Norfolk.
I gave Sam two very good walks and quite settled him to the cattle that are occupying St Neots Common
I was so keen to get the matter of my car replacement settled before leaving Paxton and spent most of the day on it. This morning I drove over to Kempston to have a demonstration of the latest Range Rover LSE with its automatic ride levelling, traction and braking and was quite impressed with only the huge cost the limiting factor. The car was about £40,000 with only £7000 to come back on my beloved wagon. I had doubts about this and then pursued another line of enquiry with their sister company in Cambridge. I looked at the lower cost Discovery, a vehicle built by the same company, Land Rover, but to a lower budget. A nearly-new equivalent car would be half the cost, but with only £5000 back on our old vehicle.
