A long and eventful New Years Eve shopping in Norwich and then trapping moles after the water rose in the Broads.
Then to The Theatre Royal for our pantomime treat of Dick Whittington & His Cat. Lional Blair, the Director, had casted himself as Dick Whittington and the "old stager" Nicholas Parsons gave the best performance as Alderman Fitzwarren.
Back to Horning to watch some TV films with the girls and then up late with my journal for the month.
A traumatic start to the night as Diana had forgotten to pack my pyjamas and I was very annoyed with her as a result. However, I still managed to get to sleep and so she was forgiven by morning. My alarm radio started our activity for the day though both Diana and Debbie beat me to the bathroom. Morning tea to bring me round and then a wait before Debbie would yield the bathroom.

The journey from Paxton to Horning in two cars after walking Sam and ordering some parts from Maplin.
A difficult journey in the dark and driving rain but we had a break for tea at a Little Chef and a stop at Norwich Tesco.
Diana had set her mind on going off straight away to Norfolk and so, although I would rather have stayed at home and caught up with lost sleep and overdue work, I went along with her. As a compromise, we were to stay for most of the day and leave after Sam had his walk. I gave him a long walk to the gravel pits before breakfast as I was not sure how much exercise he had been receiving.

The journey home from Brighton to Paxton, first took another trip down memory lane to Moulescoombe and Falmer to see the buildings that Diana and I used to occupy.
My old Brighton Polytechnic had now combined with the old College of Education to be upgraded to become Brighton University.
I drove through Richmond Park trying to avoid roadworks delays and so took lunch at Pennington Gate for lunch in the pavilion by the golf course. Home to an evening updating these last three days' journal and then tired to bed.
An earlier start to the day as I get us up at 7.30am and, after our morning drinks and bathroom routines, we were down early for our first meal of the day. Unlike yesterday, the hotel had opened the restaurant, and we had a nice breakfast meal to complete our stay. A couple of hours remained for us to do some more shopping in the town centre before it was time to finish our packing, collect our car and leave the room.

A delightful 25th Anniversary starting with the opening of our special silver presents before breakfast and some bank holiday shopping along Western Avenue.
We avoided the coach party for dinner and then watched the British horror film, "The Hawk". Unfortunately the room was too hot and traffic too noisy to get to sleep easily and I had an unsettled night.
A rather long lay in, a bout of love-making and card-reading and nice present-opening session. We had brought our unopened 25th Wedding Anniversary presents to Brighton with us, and we found Di's father's collection of sterling silver pepper pots passed down to us and, from his brother and sister-in-law, a pair of silver candlesticks once belonging to "Granny Young" and over 100 years old.
