Family visit and shopping trip to Cambridge before Cambridge City football defeat as the South Africans and Russians fight over Angola and Tony Benn tried to get a by-election seat
A lay in before breakfast of toast and fruit juice and the morning Times Newspaper. A romp with Debbie in the lounge before I persuade Di to have a hair wash and Debbie and Dan a bath. When all washed and dressed off by car towards Cambridge, stopping at the Little Chef for lunch. After I drop Di and Debbie off at her parent’s house in Bar Hill, Daniel and I to Cambridge town centre and The Cambridge Computer Store to buy another BBC micro game tape “Mission Control.” The other half of the bargain is then performed as Daniel joins me for a trip to Cambridge United Football Ground.
Although Cambridge are bottom of the second division at the moment, they had high hopes of today’s FA Cup match with Derby County. However, the team loses three-nil, but we enjoy the match for its competitive spirit. The team has changed considerably since I knew it but Jamie Murray and Steve Fallen still shine. Goalkeeper, Malcom Webster, is still there but puts in a poor performance against saveable shots. News tonight of cup holders Manchester United and Arsenal being knocked out of the cup by third division Bournemouth and Middlesbrough. South Africa has claimed Russian advisors led an attack on their troops in Angola then they claim knocking out 11 Russian tanks. Tony Benn has been snubbed by the Chesterfield Labour Party and is not to be easily adopted by them as a candidate for a forthcoming by-election. Tea of prawns and bread with Debbie and then a couple of hours playing with Daniel and his new computer game. The weather today slightly windy and cold. Our health’s much improved but none of us perfectly well. The ducks missing again tonight. They are fed so seldom these days that I fear they should fly away altogether. A late evening watching television, writing and reading to complete my relaxation for the day.
