Day relaxing with the family, watching films and reading Pepys Summer 1664 journal whilst I think deeply about my future plans for Comart and the BMMG as the serious press and even Thatcher’s Tory colleagues start questioning the wisdom of her abrasive policies and Gaddafi’s agents bomb the London businesses of his Libyan exiles

Another lay in reading The Times and Economist newspapers. I stay indoors after releasing the ducks and let Diana go out whilst I look after Debbie. Particular pleasure in putting out remains of a half coconut on the bird table for the Tits to feed upon. A fair time today reading Pepys 1664 Summer Journal which I have not been able to do for some little time. The radio news (What the Papers Say, the Week in Westminster etc) full of reported criticisms for the Prime Minister with Tory backbenchers Edward du Cann and Norman St John Stevens making coded criticisms in public speeches.

Off eventually to St Neots to meet Daniel at Readwells and take the family to the Happy Eater restaurant for lunch. An afternoon and evening relaxing in front of the fire and reading, watching televised Rugby League and a James Garner film. On time to bed and a sound nights sleep. I have also been thinking deeply about my plans. We visited the office briefly today and I collected my in-tray. There is so much work to do at Comart and the BMMG that I find it quite dispiriting. One answer is to recruit at least two more senior executives and delegate more. Provided the sales levels keep up and I can get the extra space this needs to be done anyway. News today of a series of bombs in London targeting Libyan exiles’ businesses, Arab news agents and clubs – Gaddafi is suspected of this terrorism.
