A busy day of deliveries and installations with the latest technology HiFi from A & N Audio, pine furniture as I renovate our recent purchase plus the efforts of the carpet measuring and plumbing trades paving the way back to normality whilst the ducks return to lay with 9 egg. This as President Mitterrand of France appoints a right wing Prime Minister, Prince Andrew dates Fergie and $350 million of property in New York and a stolen fortune of up to $1 billion of belonging to Marcos and his wife Imelda is repatriated for the Philippines but a brave local rescue bid for BL trucks looks doomed.
Slept well again, but woke before my drink and so went down to make drinks for myself and the children. Debbie wanted a hot orange juice and then tea for Dan and me, made from tea leaves rather than tea bags. Di was not happy about my antics, but I did manage to get some maths tuition in for Deb, so as to alleviate her worries for today’s school. Breakfast of toast and fruit juice as usual and then a rush for the bathrooms. I started work on our carved oak wardrobes and then took Diana to St Neots once they had returned from taking Debbie to school. A chance to get my materials – dark oat filler, stain, two large ‘G’ cramps etc., and also to pay in some £2300 into our bank account to bring it back into credit.
No luck getting a new key for the wardrobe – the locksmith failed me and I may have to get a new lock. More work and then out to the doves and ducks. 9 eggs today! Lunch of soup and bread and back to it. This afternoon, the plumber arrived, which was a relief. Then the man from Barretts to measure for carpets, the Robert Sayle delivery man with the pine furniture for the nursery and, just as we were sitting down to tea, the duo from A&N audio delivered and installed our new Hi-Fi. A massive stack of flashing lights, 4 large speakers, and all the latest in remote control tape/record player/and compact disk, which is just coming into fashion. A fine time after tea listening to the new Hi-Fi, before it was time for Di to do her ironing and me to return to my toils. By the end of the day I had completed the renovation of the wardrobe and was well advanced with the dressing table. Then, tired, back to the lounge and the TV news. News tonight of Conservative MP, Mr Dickens, being refused permission to name a vicar suspected of sex scandals in the House of Commons, as his colleagues object to is use of privilege. President Mitterrand of France confirmed that he will be appointing a right-wing Prime Minister, even though the majority is only 2. Much speculation on the status of Sarah Ferguson, who is rumoured to be getting engaged to Prince Andrew. The 176 foreign nationals held hostage by the UNITO guerrillas in Angola, including Britons, have been passed to the Red Cross for safe passage home. New York courts are supporting the Aquino effort to repatriate Marcos’ wealth, as the country marvels at the wardrobe and accessories of his wife Imelda. $350 million of property in New York belongs to Marcos and his fortune is estimated as $1 billion. A second bidder for BL trucks has emerged as the Lancashire Enterprise Board linked with other city institutions. OPEC leaders have broken off their crisis meeting to await expert reports.
