Some time talking with Debbie about her bedtime problems where she cries before falling asleep and then a visit from Chas and Chris and trip on The Lady before swimming and a barbeque and then to watch some old Jackson family films. Animal rights activists have attacked Debenham’s fur department, more shootings in the Ardoyne district of Ulster and the MOD admits using human guinea pigs for nerve gas tests
Slow to awake on another fine morning. First Della came in with Di and my morning tea, then Debbie arrived for a chat. I had asked to see her to talk about the problem she has at bedtime. She keeps crying when ready to go to sleep, as if in fear of the night. We put it down to the hot and humid weather, in combination with her hay fever. We changed places at breakfast, so that I could sit between the girls and it did wonders for their behaviour and manners. Took this morning easily, reading my papers and watching the start of the club cricket final at Lords on TV. Also out to the ducks and doves to feed and tend them nicely. Sat waiting a long time for Chas and Chris to arrive and they got here at 12.30.
We had a salad lunch and, after I had locked and alarmed the house, we had a nice trip on The Lady. Up through Paper Mill lock and on to Eaton Socon, where we moored up and walked to the garden centre for some refreshments and ice creams. Back home again, when the rest went swimming, as Daniel and I did the barbeque ready for tea by the river. This evening, the girls got Debbie, Daniella and Catherine to bed and then we watched the old films of the Jackson family holidays and weddings, which amused us. News this evening is of arson attacks on three Debenhams stores fur departments by Animal Rights extremists, protesting at the use of animals for luxury goods. This form of attack is very effective, as it triggers the automatic sprinkler systems and the resultant combination of smoke and water is damaging. More violence in the Ardoyne area of Northern Ireland, as a man is killed by a sniper during the annual 12th of July Eve sectarian celebrations. The MOD has admitted using human guinea-pigs in nerve gas tests at Porton Down to assess the possible results of exposure to enemy weapons. More fine weather forecast, after another warm and humid day
