Another working day in Horning adjusting the gate and renovating the Paxton Princess gunwale after walking my impatient dog on a day that had become quite warm and humid but the overnight showers had held off during the day.
Picking up some cash, seasfood, building materials and boat parts and then catching up with chores.
Poor John Major was again having to try to quash stories of a party leadership challenge whilst trying to conduct trade talks in Japan.
I was awoken by the dog again, who does not understand why a day's activity should be delayed merely on account of a changed location. Out to walk him and then to feed him on our return which is our latest routine. Only after all that, could I eat! I then spent some time listing my priorities and the things that I needed to buy later and then got out to tackle the two garden gates that needed adjustment. I had to remove the reversible hand gate in the dog fence and take off half of a centimetre of width before that fitted but, by tightening the upper pivot bolt and greasing the lower bolt hole, I was able to get the vehicle access gate back into service without too much trouble.

In for a rest and some lunch of bread, tomato and cheese left by Diana from our weekend. The task this afternoon was to sand down the gunwale on The Paxton Princess and apply the first coat of varnish and. once that was done, I was free to go into Wroxham to do some shopping. By now the day had become quite warm and humid but the overnight showers had held off during the day. A range of building materials from Jewsons, not only for local jobs, but in order to tackle the backlog in Paxton as well. Some more cash from The Norwich and Peterborough, some boat parts from Norfolk Marine and then over to Roys for some food to eat this evening and for the rest of my stay.
I stopped off next to Horning Church and gave Sam a different walk this evening on the way back and he found two cock pheasants and enjoyed himself. This came after I witnessed another walking down Ropes Hill Dyke Road earlier, within a few yards of me and Sam but it was protected by the close season and the lack of my air rifle. An evening tea of mixed seafood and salad and then an evening of catching up with chores; washing up, updating my journal and having a refreshing bath and hair wash.

There were more problems with the EEC as France and Britain found themselves in opposition over endorsing the GATT terms negotiated with America. Horrors for the party of holiday-makers surviving a coach crash on the continent only for the evacuating airliner to crash on take-off when bringing them home!
