As it continued wet and windy, I still had to take Sam out for exercise and training doing water retrieves. Much of the day working on endless financial matters and paperwork.
Then time with Della on her project before a chance to do some construction of an aerial tuner.
The night was wet and windy and this weather continued into the day. I was awake several times and then again before 6.00am when Diana rose and got us both a morning drink. I opted to get showered and dressed and then spent a useful hour in my office preparing some correspondence before breakfast. The meal over, I returned to my work as the rain still poured down making conditions poor for walking the dog.
The problem was that the rain had not stopped by 9.15am and so I had to don waterproofs and take Sam for his walk anyway. It was blowing hard and chilly as well as wet and so it felt quite unpleasant as I took him across St Neots Common. I still practised some retrieves across water with him and, though reluctant at one of them, he did quite well. I am still concerned for him to overcome any reluctance to swim away and out of his depth and also to get him to hold the objects more gently and without mouthing them.
Much of the day working on the endless paperwork that my interests generate and then, late on in the afternoon, I took Diana, the girls and Sam into St Neots where I undertook a number of building society transactions and then let the family drive back as I took Sam across the common for the walk home. Thankfully, the rain had stopped by then, but the river was rising and covering our riverside gardens again.
Time also with Della today, helping her with her magazine project which she was doing on my computer. I had a log fire in my office all day and Della helped light and stoke it up and was fascinated by the warmth, life and glow of it. A change this evening as I covered my desk with an old table-cloth and got out my project to continue with. I am constructing this aerial tuner and did all of the mechanical construction today; leaving the wiring and soldering for next time.
