Sam proved to be ill with diarrhoea on our return from a full day at Winterton and the vet advised an injection of Cortisone and course of antibiotics were prescribed, as well as a very modest diet.
The night went well, and we all got some good rest until Diana got herself up and the rest of us going. Slow to get out with Sam and, though he did not seem to have fouled his kennel, he soon had bouts of diarrhoea which was a bit worrying. His behaviour still seemed fine and he was as keen as ever for his walk.

To Winterton with the family and Sam, hoping to have got some morning coffee at Latham's but they had demolished their coffee shop and were remodelling it for the season. The wind was strong and chilly and the weather dull so that it was rather uncomfortable walking across the beach and sand-dunes. Della went off and hid for Sam to track and find her three times and he had a good run round and was very thirsty afterwards as I gave him a drink back at the car.
We drove on and stopped off at The Wheel Restaurant for lunch where Diana and I enjoyed a nice meal of chicken with a good choice of vegetables but the girls played up a bit and embarrassed us. Debbie had a reasonable excuse as at last she was having her period and some tummy ache in the process but Della was just being bad. Diana and I hoped for peace whilst we had coffee and so sent the girls to the car but Della brought the bad news to us in a panic.
Sam had been sick in the car and so I had to clear it up roughly and get us back quickly. Diana was not amused as this was her worse nightmare. In fact, it was just watery food and not too smelly but it was still quite a job to clear up properly once I got back to Harnser. I decided to call the Chapelfield Veterinary Surgery and arranged to take Sam along later. This afternoon, we left the girls at home and drove to Cromer where we stopped firstly for fine refreshment at a wayside cafe and then Diana did some shopping in the town centre whilst I visited the planning desk of North Norfolk District Council and examined a copy of the new Local Plan.
It seems that our part of Horning falls into the Broads Authority Executive area and I now have to see their plan when released in a few days time. A light tea and then into Norwich with Sam to see the vet. He was quite good waiting in the surgery and then being examined on the table. I told the story of Sam's sickness and looseness and an injection of Cortisone and course of antibiotics were prescribed.
He must also have nothing to eat until tomorrow night and then two meals a day of chicken and boiled rice for a day or two until he can be weaned back on Repnor Gold. He went to bed in his kennel nicely without any food and I spent the rest of the evening updating my journal and telephoning Jim to tell him what was going on in case we could not get to the weekend's training events. Daniel called tonight to ask when we were due home as he was planning a party for Saturday night.
