Reeve, best know for his role as Superman, said in a statement as he left the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation that he was happy to be going home and be with his wife and children.
Reeve shattered two neck vertebrae when he was thrown from a horse on May 27.
A spokesman for the rehabilitation centrein West Orange, N.J., said that Reeve was now able to breathe on his own for up to 15 minutes without a ventilator. Care will continue at home.
