A gloriously sunny day for some very good election day organisation. Overcoming computer problems, we managed to win the Eynesbury and Eaton Socon seats, to exclude the Tories, Labour and Ross McKay's breakaways. Up early enough on a gloriously-sunny day, the weather we seem to be blessed with in recent elections.

I had time to walk Sam and get changed and then loaded up the photocopier and other equipment and set off for Sally's to drop them off.
I saw Wiggly driving past checking the presence of our tellers at the polling stations and then stopped myself at The Methodist Hall to cast the two proxy votes I had been given.
On coming out, George Seager arrived in a flustered mood complaining about our postering and election tactics and being quite abusive about it.
I told him to stop moaning and, noting that he had been missing his telling numbers all this time, I collected our first telling slip and left him high and dry without the numbers!
To Derek's where I tried to set up the new software for polling day but found it was going wrong yet again and so had to revert to EARS 5.9 again, just like the past campaigns!
The same at Sally's where I wasted most of the morning trying to overcome the problem and failed. I continuously monitored the numbers from all parts of the district and was pleased with the way things were going.
Only the number of knockers up in the Eaton’s were pretty thin but then I had put all movable help into Eynesbury, relying on my second Priory leaflet and "Good Morning" deliveries to hold the line there.
The count was tense as Labour's fortunes had increased and made a three-way fight of the campaign but, although Eynesbury and Eaton Socon were tight, we managed to win all of the seats and to exclude Tories, Labour and Ross McKay's breakaways.
Back with Percy and John to my place to write and fax the press releases and to print out the result slips and then, once these announced and dealt with, I called back on Wiggly for an election day "de-briefing".
Diana had left her congratulations in the form of a bouquet and message in the kitchen which was nice of her.
