A tragic incident occurred when Police Constable Yvonne Fletcher was fatally shot by gunfire from the Libyan Embassy in London during a small demonstration.

She is quickly surrounded by stunned colleagues, including one who throws his police helmet to the ground as he attempts to tend to her.

An inquest ruled Pc Fletcher had been killed by a sub-machine gun fired from the first floor of the embassy. Ten others were hit.

The attack resulted in Fletcher's death and left ten additional individuals wounded, creating an international diplomatic incident and highlighting tensions between the UK and Libya
