Following our recent communications, I thought I would write to keep in touch with you over the revitalisation of Redgrave Stores.
I would of course be interested in feedback from my presentation at the Parish Council meeting, where I know there were mixed feelings over the style of our first newsletter.
I thought on the whole that the village were keen to see the store survive and were committed to ensure its success, but I am interested in your view.
I wonder if your council will be reconsidering the level of grant to the store which I mentioned, in respect of the services provided for the village by the store, including holding planning applications, and the key to the noticeboard.
Such a grant need not be too onerous on the Council's budget, but would make a very great difference to the viability of the store. I look forward to your response on this matter.
We have now received from Spar drawings of the proposed layout of the store which show the types of products to be stocked, and the more "user friendly" layout of the shelving.
Also, an impression of the proposed signage for the Stores which you will see is quite striking. I think it is important that the stores become more visible to passing trade and attractive to the village customers, so this frontage will be quite effective in that respect.
It will also serve the purpose of lighting the frontage, so that late night customers will not be at risk from the steps up from the pavement. I hope you will agree that this will bring the store up to date, without effecting the essential fabric of the building itself.
I am enclosing copies of both of these for your information and would welcome your support upon consultation. Also on the subject of lighting, I wonder whether the Parish would consider installing one or two street lights in the area of central Redgrave?
With both the store and pub operational of an evening, there will be more people moving about at night in the vacinity of the "hump", and more requirement for this kind of amenity.
I wonder also if the Council would consider installing a waste bin nearby, then we could play our part in keeping the village tidy. Incidentally, I am intending to publish the second edition of the Redgrave Post next week, with details of our new plans.
