Morning ducks with Daniel, office paperwork, more personnel reviews, dictated article and then home to load and join The Lady at St Ives
A beautiful sunlight morning, which I start by watching Daniel let out and feed the ducks. The ducklings are growing and, whilst I do not agree with Diana’s view that they double in size each day, they are growing remarkably. Di tells me that they got out of their enclosure yesterday but came back for their food. To the office and the mail. Lots of dictated correspondence and further review approvals before a Product Introduction Meeting at 10.00am.
We review new product plans and extract painfully from Ian estimates for project end dates. Everything late again but we are better for having updated news. Much concern over the first deliveries of our multi-processor system as we launch it with kid gloves. A brief lunch of soup and a few sandwiches before an afternoon finishing off remaining paperwork prior to my departure for a week’s holiday. As a final action, I dictate a 1000-word article as BMMG chairman for Computer Weekly into a cassette recorder. After a final round of my Directors I leave slightly early and arrive home to find Diana ready with a mountain of stacked clothes and supplies for our boat voyage. Remarkably we manage to load them in the Rover and, after leaving the shed keys with the Tomblins, we set off for the boatyard. I had checked by phone beforehand and, sure enough, it was ready with a new underside of soft red anti-foul. We load everything aboard and cruise under St Ives road bridge and on to the Waits Quay. Hamburgers from the Kentuckian in the boat and a tired recuperation. We are afloat and off for a nice week on the Great Ouse. Dusk falls to the sound of birds and playful couples at the Waits Quay.
