Hosting visit of my BMMG colleagues for a LAN meeting and carvery dinner after a day successfully redrafting my Comart Computers Business plan, receiving a £70K CAD system and intercepting that payment by Mercantile Credit to a debtor
On time to the office and slightly annoyed that the girls were not manning my phones by 8.30am. Preoccupied early on with the redrafting of the CCL Business Plan, I avoided interruptions until I had also cleared my desk and ordered my papers in the aftermath. Then to see the mail and after to agree a job offer with Ian, liaise with other Directors and make several phone calls to Mercantile Credit. With some fortune I had managed to get them to stop the cheque to Plume Computer Services in time and then drafted letters to all parties explaining why the payments should come directly to us.

Office day preparing the consolidated Comart Computers Business Plan and approving the employment of a Director for France but distracted by a Sales Department cockup that has precious funds paid to a poor creditor instead of direct to us. News today is of the miners’ dispute stand-off supervised by Police and of the US misleading the UK over Granada invasion
Up and to the office after a time reading The Guardian and Samuel Pepys early 1665. On arrival I set to preparing the consolidation of the Comart Computers Business Plan but bad news in the mail that, in spite of Daniel Fears efforts to the contrary, Mercantile Leasing had paid Plume Computer Services direct. This overshadowed my remaining efforts for the day and interfered with both my morning meeting with Rod Saar of Newbury Data and our afternoon meeting with the Pan’s representative of PA about recruitment of our Comart France Director.

Return to work at Comart to prepare for Xitan and BMMG meetings and to get two telephoned offers for the purchase of Comart as news breaks of Thatcher’s job cuts of 800 Job Centre workers, a complete BBC shutdown over 600 more jobs to be lost and the Greenham Common women’s peace protectors are crudely evicted
Up and after breakfast a hair wash, shave and shower before on time to the office and a day to catch up on the outstanding work. Pleased to see John had arranged a result on development expenditure with Ian, though I note he is already trying to bring forward the people plans again. Time to organise a meeting next week with Geoff Lynch at Xitan to review personnel plans and also to finalise arrangements for a BMMG LAN meeting on Friday afternoon. Telephone calls from both PA on behalf of Kode and John Head of Branmer today and I now have two potential buyers and the task of removing the present legal options and constraints and completing the sale.

Relaxing morning reading and then a trip to Huntingdon and to visit Buckden Marina to arrange repairs to “The Lady” before home to my accounts, and my reading of the Great Ouse Recreation Plan
A fair lay in and groggy from deep sleep and slow to wake this morning. After a regular toast and fruit juice breakfast, I returned to bed to read Samuel Pepys diaries for late 1664 and finish off The Times papers we had missed from being away. Eventually up at 10.00 to let out the ducks and also allow our part-time maid – Joan – to get in to do some housework. Off with the family to Huntingdon and lunch at the Wimpy bar and stopping to bring me copies of the Huntingdon District Council’s Great Ouse Valley Surveys and Recreation Plans which give me several ideas on spending my future time. Also to drop in after on Buckden Marina and check that they are ready to conduct the repairs to ‘The Lady’ if the boat is brought in next Saturday.
