Hosting visit of my BMMG colleagues for a LAN meeting and carvery dinner after a day successfully redrafting my Comart Computers Business plan, receiving a £70K CAD system and intercepting that payment by Mercantile Credit to a debtor
On time to the office and slightly annoyed that the girls were not manning my phones by 8.30am. Preoccupied early on with the redrafting of the CCL Business Plan, I avoided interruptions until I had also cleared my desk and ordered my papers in the aftermath. Then to see the mail and after to agree a job offer with Ian, liaise with other Directors and make several phone calls to Mercantile Credit. With some fortune I had managed to get them to stop the cheque to Plume Computer Services in time and then drafted letters to all parties explaining why the payments should come directly to us.
Then to get my Sales and Marketing Directors to coordinate efforts on producing a single unit and sector sales breakdown for 1984/5 before, after lunch, asking operational managers to tidy up the premises in preparation for a visit later on. This visit, by fellow members of the BMMG, impressed them with our scale, efficiency and timely delivery today of a £70K Computer Aided Design System from Gerber. In late afternoon to chair a meeting of the LAN Committee with a successful outcome in terms of agreeing a DTI submission. After to entertain my guests at The Anchor for a carvery dinner before late home to bed much to Diana’s consternation. The weather seems milder but the clear, sunny weather has been replaced by overcast depression.
