Two hours with the Mill Lane Residents Association advising them on how to oppose the Samuel Jones planning application

I spent the morning working on my Little Paxton History, only noticing later the mess that the Frost workers had made in the conservatory. Out to collect returns from three deliveries and some time chatting and advising, before two hours with the Mill Lane Residents Association advising them on how to oppose the Samuel Jones planning application before late to bed after writing my journal

Again, I managed to get up on time, but I have yet to get to bed at a reasonable time and so I remain tired. My idea is to keep getting up early so that I would need an early bedtime in the end. The conservatory fitters were expecting at 9am to remove the struts for re-modelling and so I put out the planks and ladder to make the job easier. I worked all morning in my office on the Paxton Park chapter – covering the period of the Gordons and Booths and then checking all of the chapter so far for any spelling errors before correcting them. I did not watch the workers too closely and was upset later to find that not only made a botch up on the support posts (leaving marks) but had also been sanding and painting so that there was a layer of debris on the surface of my pond.

I phoned Charles Frost to complain and then tore the workers off a strip, but the harm is done now. I made my own salad lunch as Diana was out shopping and then carried on with my work this afternoon. This evening, I had to go and collect my cards from three deliverers, who would not return them and, of course, had chat at length with each of them. I had a longer session with the White family of Southoe. Mrs White is one of 10 co-owners of a business and there was a complex matter to advise regarding company administration that used to be my forte. I also spent a couple of hours with the Mill Lane Residents Association and advised them on how to conduct their campaign to oppose the Samuel Jones planning application. I got home at nearly midnight and then forced myself to write these past two days’ journal as I am going to be very busy again tomorrow morning. Progress is slow with my history at the moment.
