I had another late night and was up late, but still found time to spend with my daughters before school and settling down to my history work, and problems with my gardener and fish. Later, distributing more Focus leaflets batches for delivery and completing my chapter on St James’s Church, Parish and Poor and taking it round to the Rev Peter Lewis for his comments. Then undertaking a complete backup of my computer data as I sat and wrote my journal. An earthquake in the USSR kills up to 1000 and buries a complete village, East Germany announces Armed Forces cuts and the ICC bans players going to South Africa despite threats of legal action.
I was late to bed again last night and suffered for it this morning, being late to breakfast again but at least Della awoke at the same time and we ate together. I also had a chat with Debbie before she set off for school and then played with Daniella, with balloons, before her departure. It seems that Della has a boyfriend at school (aged 7/8) which is quite a thing as she is only four! Di went off to do her weekly shopping today, buying the food for the week to come; and I settled down to my history work. Well, I tried to, but I had several interruptions and other matters to deal with. Uppermost, were the problems of the gardener Pete, who had been wrestling with the connections to my garden water supply and causing many leaks and much mud until I went to sort him out. The fish are a bit livelier today but would not take my food laced with antibiotics and still seem to have inflamed or infecting girls as they stay near the surface and look quite distressed at times. I got back to my project this afternoon and again after tea this evening until I finished my chapter on St James’s Church, Parish and Poor and made a copy to take round to the Rev Peter Lewis as a consultation copy.

I also phoned two deliverers and dispensed with my last two batches of leaflets and dropped off one of them this evening to Kim Holman. Once home, I changed into my pyjamas and then spent an hour and a half undertaking a complete backup of my 40 MB hard disk system onto 800 K floppy disks which took quite a while. Whilst this was happening, I sat and wrote up my journal and just poked in and out discs when requested. The news tonight was of another major earthquake in the USSR, with up to 1000 dead feared this time. This earthquake set off a landslide to bury a complete village. The East German leader has announced unilateral cuts in his Armed Forces to follow the lead of Russia. Despite threats of legal action from the right wing so-called ‘Freedom Association’, the International Cricket Conference is to go ahead and consider bans on players going to South Africa.
