After analysing the ONSITE situation and composing a consultancy report I then completely turned around the policy of the Little Paxton Parish Council Meeting by encouraging them to retain and increase borrowings at favourable rates to grow community facilities. This as the LibDems win a great victory in the Eastbourne by-election
I felt much better this morning after a lay in and my headache had got better. It had poured with rain last night and I was pleased that I had worked on the garden and that the decorators had finished the house before the dry spell ended. I was a bit slow to get started and then, after breakfast, I settled into my office to do some paperwork and make some telephone calls. Most of the morning was dedicated to writing up a consultancy report and covering letter and invoice to ONSITE giving vent to the many aspects that had been crossing my mind. This done, and the results checked over lunch, I got Diana to hand-deliver the result and then returned to my journal for a couple of hours before getting back to administration. I also prepared for this evening's Parish Council meeting where the main matter was the forthcoming year's budget for leisure and amenities.

I talked to the clerk and another councillor to get together some information on projects for the forthcoming year. It was rainy again today and I had to wait until tomorrow before finally cleaning the swimming pool out and covering it up for the winter. The council meeting was quite interesting and productive. They had wanted to opt for the same budget for last year at £14K and to use £5K of that to repay the playing field loan in full. I pointed out that the loan was at a low and fixed rate of interest and that we had several projects to undertake if we had the money. The outcome was that, not only were we not going to repay the loan, but we were also going to ask for a total of £19K as well! I had turned the complete meeting with my speech. I went home and then tried going to bed after watching a little TV but then, after midnight and being awake anyway, I went down to see the by-election result for Eastbourne and was very pleased to see the local Liberal Democrats winning a great victory and defeating the Tory by overhauling a majority of 18,000-odd.
