Raising the site area well above flood level with dredgings as the building work proceeds and the stud shell and principal posts go on up as large consignment of 4"x2" stud arrived this morning.
Organising electrics with Ray Lond-Caulk, plumbing with David Birchinall and booking roofers and drainage facilities with Terry Beddows of T.W. Page.
I was awake early after being quite late to bed and, after getting dressed and shaved, was out around 7.00am to resume the task of skimming off the gravel from the drive before the builders arrived. The object of the exercise was to provide a central turning space for Arthur Edmunds to fill in whilst building up the other areas of the plot rear. The reason for this was to get everything well above flood level whilst not highlighting the fact that we are building the new boatshed from a very high base. The non-arrival of the building control inspector before the walls have gone up exacerbated my nervousness. The large consignment of 4"x2" stud arrived this morning which meant that the carpenter could get on and form the rest of the walls for the enclosed area of the accommodation, but we had to unload it first!

Many phone calls organising the work including making one to Ray Lond-Caulk to commission him to do the electrics on an hourly basis and receiving one from David Birchinall, the plumber, with his estimate for the job. The roofers came by and worked out their cash price which I accepted, and we estimated three weeks before we would be ready for them. Agreed with Jewsons that the next timber delivery was urgent and to be prepared for delivery around next Tuesday. A site visit also from Terry Beddows of T.W. Page to explain their quote for the drainage pump & chamber and I gave him the go ahead to get it ready for us. Between all this, I moved a fair amount of dredgings from the lawn and filled in the entire area in front of the shed and then started on the section in front of the garage. The work extended into the evening and, despite staying up until midnight, I still could not catch up with my diary.
