After a night of huge thunderstorms, the rain stopped and we were able to progress work on Harnser; erecting more rafters and then going on to form the end wall of the accommodation.
This, as I was warding off the lynx and staining some of the door and window frames with the Cuprinol in the garage. Daniel was visiting for the day and I took the family into Norwich shopping
The thunder storm continued all night and it was still raining as we awoke this morning. The news was full of the storm as power lines were cut, roads were flooded and some said that it was just like wartime with the sky lit up all night with flashes. We were lucky in that the rain stopped just before we were due to start work at 8.00am, allowing the job to continue. I was around the site until mid-morning and concentrated on sorting out the timber in the barge and separating the sections left over from the previous stages from that to use for the roof. The workmen were up on the roof plates, erecting more rafters and then going on to form the end wall of the accommodation.

Come mid-morning Diana was back from her shopping and Daniel had arrived for the day. The pity was Debbie had proved unwell from a tummy bug and could not see him very much. I took the rest of the family into Norwich, stopping for coffee in the Riverside Cafe and then going to MFI to order our kitchen which will be ready in a couple of weeks. I also bought a large quantity of paint cheaply from a decorator's suppliers and then we had lunch at the ring-road McDonalds before going into the city to do some clothes shopping. We bought Daniel and I some jeans in Burtons but could not find him some trainers as all of the shops were on the end of the summer/spring stock and awaiting the autumn stock the following week. We also bought Debbie a fascinating electronics set from Tandy that allows her to patch together 200 different projects and she was pleased with that when we got back.
We thwarted the Lynx this evening as it was down our lane, prowling around again but Della and I stopped it from coming into our garden. Alan Gidding is planning to bait a Coypu trap for it when he can get a fresh rabbit. Meanwhile, I saw the small voles today and it seems that the mother was the one to get caught yesterday but her offspring seem to be managing. This evening, Steve cooked us a fine barbecue and Diana helped with the preparation. It was fillet steak and very nice. Then I spent the rest of the evening in the garage, staining some of the door and window frames with the Cuprinol Brazilian Mahogany hardwood woodstain that I had got today. A bath and to bed quite pleased that we had avoided the rain today and managed to get on with the boat-shed.
