Off early to Horning via a John Buckle's East of England Shooting Ground for a lesson before working for what remained of the afternoon, fitting Masterboard to the Harnser upstairs ceiling and boat-house roof.
After 5.00pm, I stopped and used the last two hours to do some sighting practice up-river where I took my gun in The Jolly.
I was awake early again this morning and was through the en-suite bathroom for my shave and shower before Diana was ready to use it at 6.40am. Some time with the girls before and after breakfast and then, once I had packed for Norfolk, I dropped them off at the school bus stop and started on my way. The journey was much delayed by traffic until I ground to a halt on the way to Newmarket, having been diverted off of the A45 by what appears to have been a serious road accident. Fortunately, my cellular car telephone got me out of trouble and I arrived as expected at John Buckle's East of England Shooting Ground for my lesson. I was examined for technique and given a number of tips to enable me to shoot more consistently but I still have lots to learn.

I was put on the "skeet" range and given around 25 shots and made some progress. The journey on to Heronshaw where I unloaded on a day that had become cold and showery. I made myself a goose salad lunch with the rest of my bird meat and then worked for what remained of the afternoon, fitting Masterboard to the upstairs ceiling and boat-house roof. I managed a few sheets but still had many more to do. After 5.00pm, I stopped and used the last two hours to do some sighting practice up-river where I took my gun in The Jolly, moored up and trained my shot-gun on all types of flighting bird without firing as no duck or goose came within range. I called Alan Giddings this evening and arranged to meet him next Tuesday about getting the rest of the work done here.
