Off to Cambridge to have morning coffee with Charles and Norma at Eaden Lilley’s, some shopping and then lunch at The Arts Theatre before getting peat, compost and other things that the gardener had requested. Home in Paxton cooking our goose.
We had a nice sunny day but only after a chilly and frosty start. Having got to bed very early with Diana, I was up equally so and took my shower and got dressed before her. This gave me about two hours in the office before it was time to leave for a trip to Cambridge and even then Diana was waiting impatiently in the car for me. A lot of traffic today for no apparent reason that I could see and this both delayed our arrival and later our departure as well. Around 10.15am before we arrived at Eaden Lilley's to meet Norma and Charles but we gave then another drink and had a good time to chat, them being keener than usual to hear of my shooting exploits in Scotland and of progress on the Harnser boat-house.

I left Diana to do a little shopping with her mother whilst I took off to the library for more books on shooting and then to the post office and building societies to do some more chores. Together we had lunch at The Arts Theatre and then away by car to get swimming pool chemicals after some peat, compost and other things that the gardener had requested. This afternoon and early evening both dressing and then roasting my young White-Fronted Goose from Saorach. I managed to get the girls to eat it and even Diana had a taster and, even though preferring chicken and turkey, she said she would try it in the future. All this left little time for my financial and other paperwork this evening but I got some of it done and then, after my journal, I had another early night; this time reading up on shooting technique.
