The journey home from Brighton to Paxton, first took another trip down memory lane to Moulescoombe and Falmer to see the buildings that Diana and I used to occupy.
My old Brighton Polytechnic had now combined with the old College of Education to be upgraded to become Brighton University.
I drove through Richmond Park trying to avoid roadworks delays and so took lunch at Pennington Gate for lunch in the pavilion by the golf course. Home to an evening updating these last three days' journal and then tired to bed.
An earlier start to the day as I get us up at 7.30am and, after our morning drinks and bathroom routines, we were down early for our first meal of the day. Unlike yesterday, the hotel had opened the restaurant, and we had a nice breakfast meal to complete our stay. A couple of hours remained for us to do some more shopping in the town centre before it was time to finish our packing, collect our car and leave the room.

We stopped off in Preston Road where I bought some radio components from the Maplin shop that I hope will help me with my short-wave facsimile reception. We then took another trip down memory lane to Moulescoombe and Falmer to see the buildings that Diana and I used to occupy. The University of Sussex had not changed very much but the old Brighton Polytechnic had now combined with the old College of Education to be upgraded to become Brighton University.
A huge roadway network and junction had been built and is now centred on Falmer and was quite a revelation. The journey back was begun and, having been delayed on the way by the M25 congestion, we decided to try the direct cross-London route this time. Was just as unfortunate, finding road-works and route closures but we enjoyed driving through Richmond Park and stopped at Pennington Gate for lunch in the pavilion by the golf course. The special was baked potato with a side salad which was nutritious as well as being filling.
The rest of the journey back with Diana driving and me navigating to avoid any more delays due to us getting lost. We could not get back before dark to give Sam his walk and food and so I telephoned ahead to Daniel and got him to do this for us. The news from home was fine with Daniel looking after the girls and dog satisfactorily and getting his friend Jason to bring round his Scaletrix racing set to entertain them all. I gave Sam a small walk to settle him down and found him well and quite obedient. The rest of the evening updating these last three days' journal and then tired to bed.
