Time training my pointer Sam on the Paxton riverside garden and then with the family at home and in Cambridge visiting the Grafton Centre and then driving into the City to see Di’s parents in Eadon Lilley’s before lunch at The Arts Theatre Restaurant.
Back home to greet Daniel who had returned from Manchester where girlfriend Angela had been having hospital tests for her stomach trouble. The afternoon at Bedford and a family swim at The Oasis Wave Pool and to buy tools to replace those stolen.
We awoke to a very much mil. der day today and this was a great relief. Diana was up much earlier than of late and was able to bring me morning tea which also made a great difference. In fact I joined the family for breakfast after getting showered, shaved and dressed and was then able to see to Sam afterwards. I took him on the lead to the riverside gardens and there he was really excited about the space and openness of the games lawn and the sight and sound of the swans landing and then calling to us and each other.

During the day he managed some good retrieves with dummy and ball but developed a resistance to coming to heel later but, whether this was from boredom or mischief I do not know, I shall return to the basics again for a while and avoid the temptation to go too fast with him as evidently dogs do not develop a retentive memory until after six months and he is only four months old. I saw Bill briefly before setting off for Cambridge this morning and he seems off-colour to me and not very enthusiastic about doing anything. He also needs more time spending with him. Hearing also of a previously dentists’ appointment for Thursday, I had therefore decided to stay in Paxton this week and not return to Horning until next.
I had so much to do and yet achieve so little apart from training Sam. A good journey to Cambridge, arriving early enough to give Diana a bit of time at The Grafton Centre before driving into the City and parking. Coffee with Charles and Norma in Eadon Lilley's and then some shopping for Diana and the girls and a trip to the library for me before we rendezvoused for lunch at The Arts Theatre Restaurant. Home in time to feed and tend Sam and then greeted Daniel who had returned from Manchester where girlfriend Angela had been having hospital tests for her stomach trouble. They feel that it is due to stress and anxiety which is both good and bad news.
This afternoon to Bedford and a family swim at The Oasis Wave Pool before leaving the girls to stay longer whilst Diana and I spent a little time at Texas. I bought another battery for my new power drill and a charger and then added a complete small power screwdriver and box of new jigsaw bits for good measure. My purchases now replace with interest those items stolen in my recent car theft. Home for tea and the evening during which I updated my knowledge of dog-training from yet more reading and spent some time with Daniel watching TV in the lounge. Tomorrow, I must do some serious computer work and then tackle growing correspondence.
