We drove through tremendous rainstorms on the way back from Horning to Paxton after working on fixing a few problems on Paxton Princess
The end of the day before we made our trip home to Cambridgeshire and so we first spent our working time on the boat. Still Sam needed to be walked and fed but I was slow to get out to do this as both he and I had a lay in. In contrast to the bright sunny mornings of late, this morning was dull and this led both of us to wake late. Steve had already got the boat out from under the boat-shed and was hard at work buffing and polishing the hull as I got shaved, washed, dressed and then out with Sam.

He is getting very obedient and always now comes to hand and to heel when called. He will sit (albeit slowly) at a distance to the stop whistle and raised hand. The only problem I have with his behaviour is his exuberance when greeting somebody he knows when he is inclined to raise his paws and open his mouth to "taste" or "mouth" their hand. He does this gently, but it is undesirable, and we keep on at him to stop it and he will eventually.
I had to work on the starboard bilge pump and forward winch which were both stuck on and isolated until fixed. I had difficulties with both, and it was well into the day before I could get them both freed up and working and also the boat alarm re-commissioned again. We went for another river trip along Horning front and cut a lively figure with hull and upper-decks gleaming. Success in getting a pump-out of both tanks at the Horning Ferry Marina despite it being turn-round day for the hire craft. Back and moored up - this time stern-on which leaves space for the dinghy in the boat-house with the Paxton Princess well under cover.
The tiring process of packing up the car and tidying and securing all the properties and outbuildings and then away later than intended in early evening tired but content with what we had achieved. Now we are ready to go out to sea or anywhere and fully intend to return next week to do just that. Stopped for a meal at the Wymondham Little Chef and were disappointed with the service but pleased for the refreshment. We drove through tremendous rainstorms on the way west and were interested to note that, whilst we had fine weather in Norfolk, they had torrential rain for several days back in Cambridgeshire.
