A highlight of the month was Daniel's getting his Honours Degree

The hot summer sun arrived with a vengeance after a wet start to the month and plenty of scope for the family to enjoy the pool and games lawn.

The highlights were Daniel's getting his Honours Degree and my successes as I commission both Paxton Princess and the Reliant, putting the Rolls Royce up for sale and exchanging of my old Range Rover for a new Discovery. A couple of evenings playing snooker with Nigel and a trip in Norfolk with Steven for a boat trial and many other trips and events with the family.

I did some more work to Harnser, decorating and fitting out the store-room for better use and also progressed the planning dispute but came across a problem there which needed the structural engineer's advice. Sam also came on quite well in his training, first recovering from his nasty viral infection and then excelling at his water retrieving.

The government are in even deeper trouble (if that were possible) as Michael Mates had to resign on his links with Azil Nadir and poor Michael Hezeltine, the luckless Trade and Industry Secretary, had a debilitating heart attack. England’s cricket and football teams have been both losing and struggling

A month that saw much progress and many changes as, from the middle onwards and arriving after some pouring rain, the hot summer sun arrived with a vengeance. The progress was firstly with The Paxton Princess that was brought back to commission after having very little use last summer and then with the 1939 Austin 7-engined Reliant (the last working example of its kind) that successfully passed its test after an even longer lay-off.

The boat had even been upgraded with new domestic batteries and navigational interface to make better use of the auto-pilot. I still managed to have a couple of evenings playing snooker with Nigel. I did some more work to Harnser, decorating and fitting out the store-room for better use and also progressed the planning dispute but came across a problem there which needed the structural engineer's advice.

Daniel had taken his final exams and achieved a Lower Second Honours Degree in Computing Science and I saw a lot more of him and Horning during the month. I took him to Lowestoft and bought him a new toolbox and set of tools. I had a few meals and boat trips with him and advised him as he re-commissioned his own speed-boat after a two year lay-off which pleased me greatly. It was a sad month because of Mum's birthday and Father's Day, but we tended their graves nicely, now have Dad's fish thriving in the new pool and have added seat belts to his old car and will give it good use in Norfolk. Della had a nice party at a friend's farm in Pertenhall, had both Diana and I attending the Preparatory Department Sports Day sports day and was the hostess for a Brownies Swimming Day at The Hayling View.

Daniel, in turn, had his last month with his Norfolk friends and still had Gary up to help him with his speed-boat for which I had got Heronshaw's services back on line. Back home, he had Jason for games of tennis and swimming, and we all came through the dentist with flying colours. Some more time with the family as we visit Norfolk and are regular visitors to Jarrolds and The Pizza Hut in Norwich, Latham’s of Potter Heigham and take The Jolley to Horning Tea Shoppe. The girls went roller skating with Daniel and his girlfriend Dawn and had nice trips with Diana to such places as Pleasurewood Hills.

Sam also came on quite well in his training, first recovering from his nasty viral infection and then excelling at his water retrieving. He even started to be of use in fetching the tennis balls from the children's games that bounced off into the river. He learnt not to mess in his run or the garden during the month and now waits to do it when out on his run. We now have the transit box in which he is at home in both the boat and the new car.

I put the Rolls Royce into a dealer to try to sell it but did not succeed during the month. I eventually made the exchange of my old Range Rover for a new Discovery and had the top of the range version to include automatic transmission, air conditioning (back and front) and a recovery winch for off-road use.

The government are in even deeper trouble (if that were possible) as Michael Mates had to resign on his links with Azil Nadir and poor Michael Heseltine, the luckless Trade and Industry Secretary, had a debilitating heart attack whilst abroad and meeting the former Tory Treasurer on the same topic. Englands cricket and football teams have been both losing and struggling and need to have a better time in late summer to make up for it.
