On a cloudy and cool day, with breeze from the north-east, some-time work on the Paxton Princess and some evening fun on Cromer Pier where the show stars Hope and Keen
It was cloudy and cool for much of the day, with the breeze still coming from the north-east. We all lay in a while after our active day yesterday and so it was Sam that woke me around 8.00am as he was impatient for his food and a run. A long walk, ending up collecting the milk and paper from Horning to take back for breakfast. Despite the late hour, the family were still not up and about, nor the meal ready and so I sat and read the paper a while. I was still tired after the meal and rested further until the paper was read and my legs rested.

Some work on The Paxton Princess before and after lunch; greasing the stern tubes and rudder stocks, topping up the hydraulics and then clearing up and replacing/hoovering the carpets. I pulled the boat out of the boat-house and removed the dinghies so that it could go completely in but, in doing so, I smashed the anchor light against the boatshed roof and had to go and buy another. After tea and another session with the dog, I took the family over to Cromer where we went onto the pier and watched the seaside show. It was a very elaborate and most enjoyable affair and, though it went on late, and the girls felt that it was too long, they quite enjoyed it.
Diana and I thought that it was great. I was most impressed by all round professional skills of Hope and Keen, the sons of two old Vaudeville entertainers and Diana felt Neil James was best. The singing/dancing couple Traffle were good and the four girl dancers were excellent. Home listening to the second episode of the Radio 4 serial "Murder on the Orient Express" which enthralled the girls despite being tired. My journal and then to bed at the stroke of midnight.
