This month was the mildest November in Norfolk, since record began. The anticyclone centred over the North Sea has meant icy weather for Eastern Europe but milder climes for us.

Diana stayed home today until lunch time, and I went through my normal routine until I was ready to get off to Norfolk.

The walk to the bus stop with the girls in yet more mild weather as November closes much as it began. I heard that the month was the mildest November since either 1665 or, in the case of Norfolk, since record began.

The anticyclone centred over the North Sea has meant icy weather for Eastern Europe but milder climes for us basking in the southern airstream.

Morning coffee with Diana as I discuss my High & Mighty catalogue and clothing needs with her and it seems that the special leather jackets would be popular all round.

Eventually loaded up and away and, after a short stop for cheap petrol and a snack at 5-Ways roundabout, I made it to Heronshaw at lunch time.

The workers from Wroxham Builders were just finishing stripping off the last of the old thatch and needed two more lorry loads to take it away for burning at an old airfield in Ludham. That made around 7/8 loads in all.

At the Dunham's plot, Sonny Amis and his helper were still only half-way through a massive piling job with the total requirement being around 60 piles that are setting anything up to 45ft deep.

Normally, piling 6ft to 2m apart is considered more than adequate but this time the designers seem to have gone overboard. This makes me worry about how we specified Harnser and what would now be needed for the Heronshaw replacement.

A run for Sam and then a proper meal for me as I use plenty of salad to accompany some tinned mackerel to make a tasty meal before going to the football.

I had walked Sam into Horning in search of milk and bread but found some rolls and muffins instead. I set off and got to Carrow Road in good time so as to meet Jim outside and share my tickets with him. I also shared the muffins which we enjoyed at half time.

The match was a dour affair after promising much with an opening first minute goal. Norwich City did not play very well but at least they beat Notts. County by that lone goal and now go into the quarter finals of the League Cup. Back to Horning in the traffic and then some TV and relaxation before bed.
