Later  some affectionate cuddles with Wiggly and a drink before parting

After sorting out family matters, then making election canvassing arrangements and mentoring a trainee canvasser before Wiggly returned home. Next visiting Sally and making arrangements with other election volunteers. Later  some affectionate cuddles with Wiggly and a drink before parting;  and better able to join me for the weekend the following day.

I arrived back home on another fine and sunny day in time to take Sam for his walk and to feed him.

Then a chat with the gardener before settling into my office for my journal and the arrangements for the day. I had hoped to take Diana to see a film in Bedford to make up for her not getting out.

However,  firstly Della was at home and needed taking daily to her tennis practice and secondly the only films on were children’s ones which did not appeal.

Once work was underway, I had to make some telephone calls to arrange things for our Staughton candidate, John Grosvenor, link up with Sally and Derek about later and then talk to Wiggly about arrangements for canvassing and leaflet organisation tonight.

Then some time on my financial affairs, my journal and other matters before getting Debbie to take Sam out for me.

I was round at Wiggly's house quite early and found that she had arrived home late after some work responsibilities and had not arranged many things for this evening's election work.

As far as she was concerned, her weekend had started and she was not in a mood to do more. She was also upset at having to duck out of a rehearsal with her drama friends and seemed not to want to telephone them before they were coming to get her.

I saw that there was work to do organising the final leaflet distribution and to prepare for the evening's canvassing session and pressed her to do this, but she ended up bursting into tears and stomping around.

I took over the canvas preparation and then received the trainee candidate, Dave, and went out with him to knock on a few doors. He was very nervous to begin with and then got better as he visited more houses until he felt confident to go out on his own I the end.

I arranged for him to come back earlier this time, next Tuesday. Wiggly was gone when I came back and I could not get in to get my briefcase so, after trying to contact her at her likely ports of call by mobile telephone and leaving messages, I made for Sally's house to help them with their computer data whilst I waited for her to pop up.

This was worthwhile as Peter Pullen called with problems organising the data for the villages and then he came over and Brian and I sorted him out.

I stayed at Sally's until quite late and took her canvas cards away with me for entering in the end as they were going away in the morning. Wiggly telephoned in the end and I need not have worried as she had been out, sorting her remaining delivery rounds and I dropped round to collect my briefcase and see her afterwards.

Just some affectionate cuddles and a drink before parting; finding her more relaxed after this and better able to join me for the weekend the next day.
