Wiggly was experiencing doubts about the future of her company department  after which we drove over to Pathfinder House for the Annual District Meeting and then on to The Priory Centre for the Town Council meetings, which all went well. So the whole day and night with Wiggly

It was unfortunate that Wiggly was not able to get the morning off due to her crisis at work.

The rumours had been that her Manufacturing Research Division was being closed down entirely and her Human Factors Team was being moved to Port Sunlight, near Liverpool.

This she did not want to do so that her possible secondment to Paris with Agnes was assuming a much higher significance. Today was the day that her boss, Charles, was due to hear of the plans.

I spent the morning taking Sam for a long walk around the Coneygeare, out to Eaton Socon lock and back in the incessant drizzle, glad that I was wearing waterproofs.

The rest of the morning inside then making lots of arrangements and telephone calls so that the morning fairly flew by. Wiggly was able to leave at noon and be back so that we could get out by 1.00pm and over to Pathfinder House by 1.30pm, in time for lunch in the canteen.

I thought that it would be quite fun to join my colleagues for the HDC annual meeting. I got into the car park with Wiggly's card and then showed her around and introduced her to and managed to meet several of the existing councillors.

Some of them, like Jack Smart and Frank Clark were quite friendly and just Pre Newbon was difficult. We had lunch in the canteen at the subsidised rates before she had to have her photograph taken and we all had to go into the chamber.

Percy was with John Roscoe and some other dignitaries at The Bridge Hotel and so I tried to advise our new group leader Terry Clough and his deputy Charles Looker as they went about organising the group’s presence in the council chamber and committee places.

To Hinchingbrooke Park with Wiggly afterwards to give Sam a good walk and his evening meal before driving back to Eynesbury for a tea of fish and chips and quick change to get along to The Priory Centre for the Annual Town Council meeting in the evening.

With all twelve councillors elected as Liberal Democrats and a good group meeting earlier in the week, things went well. Sally and Derek were confirmed for their second years as Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively and the meeting went on to deal with outstanding matters of business.

Our planning application for Cambridge Street was deferred until next time as the plans had not been circulated to the Town Council. Back with Wiggly to Montague Street where, both being dead tired, I went out to get some milk and we soon fell fast asleep.
