Preoccupation with Comart Group’s trademarks, company styles and Annual Report and Accounts whilst maintaining a public profile and chairing internal meetings. A badge design for my Achievement of Armsand welcome news of a truce in the printers’ dispute
Early up and to the office to first finish checking my Chairman’s review for the Annual Report and Accounts. After the mornings mail I study the week’s computer journals. John is on the front page of Computing doing an effective hatchet job on the new micro offering from Sperry. I am on page three in a small piece about the Tariff Duty change proposals with Liberal MP Paddy Devlin taking an interest.
A brief call with Roger Brittain of the Auditors at 11.00 to discuss the plans for a new share valuation and audit reports on Xitan Systems. Then a Product Introduction meeting in company with most of the management team. There to discuss several new products entering production and to establish a good degree of misunderstanding which was eventually sorted out. Lunch of sandwiches and reading the midday mail and in-tray and then after lunch to concentrate on finalising and sending out all of the agenda and notes of Annual General Meeting. The trade mark agent has confirmed that ‘Group Micro’ is available to us in the US, France and Germany; and the company registration agent that the name is acceptable on certain conditions. I plan to introduce it in mid ’84, but tackle the registrations now. Word from the Red Dragon Persuivant asking for my choice on badge design for my Grant of Arms. To convene another meeting in late afternoon with John, Derek and others to resolve administration problems on the signing and transfer of Service Contracts which is a difficult business. Home late and only time for the television news and checking the original of each group company’s accounts before later to bed. News today of a week’s truce at last on the NGA dispute after a previous false start and adjournment. Weather turned very cold again.
